TxDOT's Brazos County Maintenance Office is looking for a Maintenance Support Tech I based in Bryan, TX.

Come join the Brazos County Maintenance Section as a Support Tech. This position keeps the office running day to day, assisting with phone calls, meetings, employee onboarding, orders and procurement, data entry, timesheets, and many other important functions. The ideal candidate is able to communicate and respond quickly and professionally via phone or email to members of the public, coworkers, and local government stakeholders. Salary:

Maint. Support Tech I: $35,439 - $52,388

Position Description

Performs administrative support-related work in a maintenance office or district headquarters. Work requires contact with private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.

Essential Duties:
  • Answers the telephone, evaluates requests, answers questions, routes messages, and/or serves as receptionist or front desk assistant.
  • Assists district personnel with annual inventory of supplies, stockpiles and minor equipment.
  • Conducts monthly spot inventories, verifies inventory findings, reconciles and coordinates with Business Services on adjustments needed.
  • Coordinates with District Warehouse personnel on surplus property sales of miscellaneous items.
  • Monitors and assists with data entry for maintenance contract record keeping.
  • Prepares and distributes correspondence.
  • Processes change orders, supplemental agreements, and extra work orders.
  • Reviews and processes records of completed maintenance projects.
  • Processes receipts and invoices for payment.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general education.

Experience: None

Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools
  • Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs
  • Sitting - prolonged periods of time
  • Standing-prolonged periods of time
  • Repetitive Motion-substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
  • Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading
