Job Description Job Description HOLT Truck Centers of Bryan is looking to a hire Diesel Technician. HOLT views the service department as a vital part of the dealership, and a crucial way that it builds open, honest, trusting relationships with customers and other departments is essential to the dealership's success. The main objective of the Service Technician is to diagnose and repair vehicle components and systems for the Service Department.AccountabilitiesPerform unsupervised work as outlined on major repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.Complete major repairs within specified timesDiagnosis, troubleshoot, and repair non-typical vehicle issuesEngage with external manufacturers and warranty contacts to maximize reimbursement of servicesExamine assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommendedConsult with service advisor about status of the vehicle repairsProvide technical expertise and guidance to all level of techniciansParticipate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events and make recommendations for other technicians within the shopDocument all work performed and recommended on a repair order using accepted languageDocument all required information for the successful completion of a warranty claimRoad test vehicles for evaluation purposes specifically for noise, vibration, and harshness to determine needed actionsEnsure the customer's vehicles are kept clean. Notify the service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicleMaintain a safe and clean work environment and recommend improvements for shop safetyMaintain and be accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Identify issues with specialty tools and communicate to management. Make recommendations for tool replacement and inventory controlOperate shop equipment safely, report safety issues, and recommend maintenance and repairs immediately to managementPossess the ability to lead in a team environmentUnderstand, keep abreast of current with, and comply with all federal, state, and local regulations that affect service operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA, EPA, and so on.
